Google Gears does not support Mac OS X Snow Leopard

Trying to install Google Gears got me to a message stating Google Gears does not support my browser.  I’m using the newly install Mac OS X Snow Leopard with the Safari 4.  It seems mostly likely that Google Gears is looking for the Safari 3 version number and doesn’t recognize Safari 4 as being an upgrade to Safari 3.  The screen shot is below:

Actually the source of the problem is that Gears is for 32-bit system, and Snow Leopard, along with all OSX apps like Safari, are 64-bit. Among other things, the 64-bit apps don’t use Input Managers. Now, I actually have no idea what I’m talking about, but I know that Gears, along with my other favourite 3rd party app Multiclutch, rely on input managers to do what they do. To put it simply, they both need a complete rewrite from the ground up to work with SL.

Or you could just boot into 32-bit mode and everything will work as it always has! You could also use Firefox – It’s still 32-bit, even in 64-bit Snow Leopard
